Defensiveness is a danger sign in communication. In couple communication, defensiveness may surface as a protected shield for one who is often criticized and at the receiving end of contempt. John Gottman describes it as one of the potential marriage killers. This presentation looks at how defensiveness can negatively impact couple relationship. It provides few tips to guide couples and others who may be experiencing defensiveness in their relationships.
